This hose just burned me. I was lucky it was only a 10 minute flight because in 10 minutes I lost all 6 quarts of oil. Had oil pressure until I shutdown and when I got out there was oil pouring out of the cowl. This hose had broken. I just purchased my first tri pacer so this hose was news to me. PHEW

    Hi,

    ....This hose just burned me.

Wait until you find out what Univair wants for a new one, you'll feel burned again.

    Hi again,

....Had oil pressure until I shutdown....

How do you know you had pressure, that restricted line goes to the guage? You are writing about that 6 or so inch long piece between the engine and the mount area, yes?

Soooooooooo Why can't you make up a new 303 hose with old fittings for about $5.00?????? If it is the hose from the eng. to the firewall.

Because the guage showed it. After I shut down it was still blowing out for a minute....

    Hi again,

    ....Because the guage showed it....

Lucky you! Mine broke clean off, 50 year old rubber. My guage was at
zero, I caught it during an instrument scan. No apparent damage after five minutes to make the closest airport. Nothing on the dipstick. I'm still a little uneasy about things after 30 hours since almost losing it. The engine had less than a hundred hours on a major at the time.

    The other Jim asked, ....
Why can't you make up a new 303 hose with old fittings for about $5.00??????

Good question. I don't remember what it looked like.

    Jim,
On mine it is about a 12" piece of 1/4" 303 hose. Comes off the acc. case to a bulkhead fitting.

You can see it in this picture.

I seem to remember mine being shorter, like six or eight inches. One end fitting had a very small passage, like a sixteenth or so restricting it down. Maybe the ends are standard, I've never made an aircraft hose, just the small primer lines. Cheaper is almost always better, for me.

The Piper hose is shorter. You can replace just the rubber hose on the Univair oil pressure/restrictor line. No special tools needed.
