    Default Auxiliary fuel tank question.

Does Univair, Wag Aero or anyone else sell the auxiliary fuel tanks for our shortwings, or are they only available used? Looking for one for the project airplane. Seven Six Delta has one and I really like the additional range.

Don't know if they are available new so I can't help you there. However, do I remember hearing somebody puts larger tanks in the wings? Maybe somebody can chime in here and let me know if I'm dreaming that. If it's already a project that might be the better way to go.

We have the Aux tank and have used it. However, if you want to pull the rear seat for extra cargo space (see Steve's engine flight) the Aux tank gets in the way of a nice flat floor.

I have seen aux fuel tanks listed on eBay and the SWPC website.
I have one in 14P, I place a thin sheet if plywood or office carpet over it when rear seat is removed. I always put the rear seat forward support bar back in to act as a barrier for things sliding forward. You can secure a strap or carg net to that bar and the upper rear bar to keep stuff secure behind the front occupants.

You just have to watch the websites and find a used one, have not seen any new manufacturers. The Dakota Cub Slotted wings we have on Cathy's Tri-Pacer have the 24 gallon tanks and they are nice on cross countries.

Thanks guys, thats what I thought. As far as the wing tanks go I know that F. Atlee Dodge sells the aux tank that go in the wings. I'd love to do that but they're awfully proud of 'em.

I just checked F. Atlee Dodge's website and those aux wing tanks carry 30.5 gallons and go for $2750. Each.
