Well Guys,
After Son, Grandson and I put a fresh coat of paint on "J Bird" SNJ-4 over the Christmas Holidays. It was time to add some GUNS. After all how can you have a Warbird without GUNS???? Soooooooooo I looked around the hangar and the AN- Home Depot for gun parts. :-) The SNJs had guns in the nose, wing and one in the backseat for gunnery training that was on a track. Ours have all the brackets to mount the backseat gun along with the gunners hood, just no track, carrier or gun.
Grandson and I built the guns for the wing and nose over a weekend. The backseat one took a while longer because I wanted more detail and had to build.design the supporting parts. All the stuff was built from pictures on the internet.
Anyway here ya go. Now I might be able to get back to work on the Pacer. I will mount the backseat gun this weekend
Jim

I was thinking of putting racks for AIM-9 missiles on the struts of my PA22, then calling the tower for a short approach:

"Hillsboro Tower, One For Papa abeam the numbers on left downwind for 31L, we have missile lock on the student pilot 152 ahead on three mile final, number two for landing 31L"

"Um, 14P, you are cleared for immediate turn to base and final for 31L ahead of the 152, and have a great day sir!"

I love our ATC.

Aim 9s are just air to air, might be easier to try this and just take out the tower, but Homeland unSecurity might wonder.

Yes, Frank, the bazookas are well and good but I want to land ahead of the student in the 152, not kill my friends in the tower. Our ATC is the best.
Believe me, if you are flying a Tri-Pacer on the downwind at KHIO and ask to make a short approach ahead of the Intel CRJ three miles out on the straight in, they will expedite you, "Tri-Pacer One For Papa, make immediate short approach to Tree One Left and exit at Alpha if able."
"Roger Tower, One For Papa turning left 180 short approach for 31L"
Pull the power, drop some flaps, crank her around and down she comes. Boom! Now haul back on those crappy brakes and make that turn off in 800 feet. "Tri-Pacer One For Papa, taxi to North East Tee's on Alpha to Bravo this frequency."
Our ATC is awesome with us, because we work with them when there's nothing going on in the pattern, and when we return from a dinner mission at 10PM and they are about to close the tower, we always invite them to come to the hangar for post-flight debriefing, refreshments will be served.
