Not a shortwing incident but my co-workers foster son was in the back seat of a super cub that crashed into a hangar on takeoff this week in North Dakota. He filmed the entire incident from the rear seat and I will try and post it. He works for a crane operation and was being flown by the owner to another location to retrieve a truck. I guess he had just got married and his wife was not happy that he was getting in this plane to fly and he was sending video back to her as they got ready to go. Reports are the pilot suffered a broken leg, chest contusions and a head bleed and had to be cut from the aircraft and flown from the scene by helicopter to Bismarck.

Oh...boy....
Glad to hear that everyone survived. Hope the injuries are not too severe, and recovery will be quick.

Gusts reported 31 knots. Loss of lift.

I had a bad scare in winds like that, out of ground effect and it settled due the gust dropping. Now I hold it on the ground until way past flying speed in gusty conditions.

What a shame. Ditto what Mark said.
It was a PA-12 not a PA-18
