The way I read FAR 61.56 (2)(d), operating privilege would seem to include tailwheel endorsement. That's what I would tell my student, anyway.

A tailwheel endorsement does not substitute for a Flight Review.

I hate it when I'm wrong. First time today, but it's still early.

I think this is the first time I've ever seen Dave wrong.
You can save money on your Biannual and get it approved by getting you instrument, commericial , multi or ATP.

Also getting a SES rating suffices for a BFR.

The tailwheel endorsement flight could have satisfied the BFR if it were discussed with the CFI prior to the flight. Integrating the tailwheel endorsement requirements with the time and performance requirements of the BFR would be a relatively easy thing to do. There is no restriction on doing both at the same time.
