Hi,

My daughter just moved from here in Michigan to Denver this Thanksgiving and now seems to be having one of those days.

She doesn't know many people out there, especially mechanically inclined ones, and she's having a car brake problem.

Noticing a "sound" when she applies her brakes she went into one of those brake places and got an estimate for over $900 to "fix" her up. The car's a 1999 Olds Alero with 4 wheel disks. Seems the repair folks told her she needs pads, caliper(s), rotors, flushing, and also has a stuck piston and very rusty rear wheel brake parts. Sounds to me like they're setting up for a flushing alright, my daughters.

If the car was around here I know I could make it reliable without $550+ dollars in parts. Any of you know anyone in the Denver area that knows someone that might know someone that can keep her from getting so ripped?

Thanks!

Jim, I will make a phone call in the am. Know a few airplane folks in the Denver area that might know someone. ;)

Jim,
When my daughter moved out of town and needed repairs I got on the "Car Talk" website and they have a listing of mechanics recommended by their listeners. Worked out real well. http://www.cartalk.com

Thanks guys!

Just for the fun of it, I put my zip code in the inquiry form at http://www.cars.com/go/advice/cartalk/i ... ff=cartalk (http://www.cars.com/go/advice/cartalk/index.jsp?aff=cartalk) and was pleasantly surprised to see the top shop people referred is also the place where those in the know around here really do go.

This, might just work out.

Thanks again!
