I am looking for anyone who has already attained the field approval for a PA-22 using Aeroflash Model 156-0003 12V system mounting the power supplies in the wing tips. This is a PMA system already approved in many aircraft.

I'd submit a 337 for field approval using data from a like aircraft that they are approved on.

Do you mean something like a Cherokee? It is STC'd in many aircraft except for Pipers.

Zac, I somtimes email my intentions to my PMI, asking for their advice before I submit my 337. This approval should not be difficult, it is a PMA'd part, you can show data from a variety of STC'd aircraft and the data from the approved part. It is a safety issue, it is not a structural, weight & balance, or aerodynamic problem. Be sure to demonstrate that your electrical system is adaquate and that your installation will be done according to both Aeroflash's instructions and 43.13 and be specific about which parts of 43.13 you will follow. Also, my PMI is big on me explaining "continued airworthiness". I list out the checks I will make and when they are to be done. Good Luck, Stephen

Stephen,
Thank you for the info. I sent in my 337 for field approval yesterday. I'll see how it goes. This should be a no brainer, but who knows.

Kevin,
That last post was probably the "kiss of death".
Good Luck.
