What experience does anyone have with gap seals and wing root fairings, for the cherokee. What is the best brand and does it take a 337 form? I have the old hershey bar wing. Any help to know if it is worth the investment or not would be greatly appreciated.

qsupreme,
A good friend and his wife "updated" their PA-28/140 with a full suite of "knots-2-you" (I think) package that included wing tips, gap seals, wing root fairings, landing gear streamline and "spats" that blended the lower leg to the wheelpaint. They were very happy with the performance, about the only thing they didn't purchase was a new cowl (a la Lo-Pristie). On the "cost versus speed gains", not sure, I can aks him if he would do it again. The old drag race saying about "Speed costs money, how fast do you want to go??"

Enjoy the day,

John

My Father and I got in a "my plane is faster than your plane" thing a while back (PA28-140 vs. C-175) and he did the same thing to his Cherokee 140. If it was in the catalog he bought it, along with the PowerFlow exhaust and flush OAT probe. One thing he had to do to take advantage of the cleaner airframe was repitch the prop, the original pitch just couldn't physically pull the plane that much faster. From personal experience with other Cherokees and my Apache, the stabilator gap seal helps a lot in landing with better control feel, and it feels like there is more control authority at slow speeds.

That ought to add an interesting twist to the cherokee. Although if I wanted to fly a tail dragger I'd probably go back to a supercub. Now that is a capable bird even in 20-25 knot cross winds.
