View Full Version : oxidation on spars

I'm working on a set of experimental wings that have some light oxidation on the spars - little white specks here and there. I took some red scotch bright with little soapy water to a test piece, and it buffed out pretty easily, but I'd like to know what the recommended approach is? Any suggestions? Should I use an acid solution (aluminum polish)?

I want to get them cleaned-up and then shoot them with zinc (or?) before I cover them.

My Clipper spars were that way. I etched them and scrubbed with red Scotchbrite and then alodined and primed with white epoxy primer.
