Hi All,

I'm working through some weight and balance calculations on my 1950 PA20 (not a conversion). Wondering if any other owners with similar planes have weight and balance worksheets to share? I'm putting together a spreadsheet.

I tried a forum search and had some posts come up, but they referenced attachments that didn't appear to be there any more...? :icon_rolleyes:

Thanks!

I have a few examples on my home computer. I can try to post them when I get home this afternoon.

Thanks, Tim. I'll look forward to that.

I should add that I have complete W&B paperwork in my aircraft logs, but the "diagrams" and "graphs" are... well... not much to shout about. :P They sure did things differently back in 1950.

That they did. I also created a moment envelope method woksheet that simplifies the math. I made that as a pdf and laminated it to put in the flight manual. That is the pilot use for aircraft loading.

Awesome. I'd take anything you're willing to share (as simply an example, of course - not necessarily for direct use with my airplane). :)

Everything I have can be easily modified to represent a PA20.

I've been using an IOS app called Aviation W&B on my IPad & IPhone which makes a quick W&B calc prior to TO a snap. The app has downloadable templates for dozens of AC including PA22, and takes just seconds to configure then save your current empty weight & CG as your AC template. Cost $9.99 from Itunes.

Evidently .xlsx and .docx files are prohibited to upload. I'll send you a PM.

Use the "Go Advanced" button and you should be able to upload most files.

I just sent you and email with some spreadsheets. Sent to cgfyl at shortwingpipers dot com. Some file won't upload.

I don't know how to access that email account. I sent you a PM with my home email address.

Run the weight and balance with fuel and you in it. You will probably be in spec. The fuel and pilot moves the CG aft.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but, isn't the arm on a 22/20 measured between mains and tail wheel post? Maybe this 72" was taken prior to the conversion?

Perhaps you may have not subtracted the distance from the nose to the wing leading edge (60"). If measurements were made from the nose and included in calculations of the moment, you have to subtract the 60" from the arm to get the cg.

Ok, I hope I've uploaded a scanned copy of the weight and balance report. Tell me what you think?

The arm(s) you have listed for the components are measured from the nose, which is 60" forward of the datum (wing LE). You have to now subtract the 60" from the total arm to get your actual CG.

Awesome, thanks for the help.
