The Sun & Fun Fly-In will be April 1-6 2014 and we are planning some fun get togethers for ShortWingPipers.org members. Gilbert and I have a forum scheduled in the Central Florida Aerospace Academy (CFAA) across from the Florida Air Museum in room 3 at 11 am Wed April 2nd where we will will discuss flying, maintaining and restoring these aging aircraft. I have a power point presentation put together as well as lots of stuff you can put your hands on. We usually spend the better part of the hour with questions and answers. We also want to do a Short Wing Piper walk around inspection out on the flight line to point out some of the common maintenance and trouble ares we see a lot on Short Wing aircraft. In addition we are working on a dinner one evening as well.

We have dinner plans for Wed. April 2nd at 6pm at Earhart's Runway Grill (http://www.earhartsrunwaygrill.com/) which has a patio that overlooks the runway. This is a nice place to meet and watch the evening arrivals at Sun & Fun. Please post here if you plan on attending so I can get an idea of how many people to expect to give the restaurant a heads up.

Steve, sounds like a great time. I have vacation over that time and was planning to work on my wings but I might have to jumpseat down for a couple days. What day is the talk? Is anybody drive in camping?

Thanks Gil and Steve, now I've got a target to get permission from central command (i.e. my wife.) I have a buddy who offered me a vehicle to use, so if I can get a jumpseat down there and back with my tent and sleeping bag I'll be all set!

I will post on the other thread but I'm hoping to do the same thing for part of your get together in TX, minus the tent and sleeping bag!

I'm planning to be there also, a week holidays for that period. May just fly the Pacer also, (as long as there are no wind storms like 2 years ago).

Whats the parking camping situation like at SNF? Are you guys able to park together if you arive at different days/time? Do you camp by your AC like at OSH? How much is nightly camp/parking cost? Hope its less than OSH which is way too much IMHO.

You can camp under the wing but we always camped in the woods next to the Vintage area. The airplanes are kinda spread out but the vintage area is not near as big as OSH. Will see if we can reserve some spots like the Stearmans and Swifts do.

Anyone arriving at Sun & Fun can hook up with us everyday under the wing of my Mom and Dad's red Clipper on the first or second row of the Vintage area. We are there every morning and throughout the day especially during the airshow. We have extra chairs and water to take a load off and visit.

That would be good if you can reserve some spots. When are you to arrive??

We should arrive on Sunday but we will be in those long winged big tired things that Piper also built pictured here. Will try to save some spots but S&F doesn't really like that. We will be set up on the front row or two with the Red Lady though.

You know, what would really make that a heck of a picture would be a tri-cycle gear Maule pointing right at the camera! (since I don't own a flying SW Piper anymore. Every time I walk in the hangar and look at the project I think, I really need to get started on that). 6120

All you need to do is show up at 11 am to room 3 at the Central Florida Air Academy. They are nice big class rooms with lots of room.

Update, I will be there! I'm camping with a buddy over in Seaplanes and driving down. Haven't looked, is Earhart's a walk or a drive? I'm hoping to swing through Pensacola this Saturday and visit the museum at KNPA unless I have to work. See you all there!

Actually Steve, I was going to offer rides. I'll be in my minivan, with the camping supplies removed I can take 5-6 pax.

All I need now is to get released from my Call In reserve duty for Saturday and my son to not develop pneumonia! Keep fingers crossed, I'll know more after 2300 EDT tomorrow night!

Wonder if they is any SW people that maybe travelling close to this route that we can hook up with.

115 kts and 7.5 gph?? I guess you ordered up a healthy tailwind. I got to tell you a story about that when you get to SnF.

I get one or the other but not both without a healthy tailwind
