Has anyone looked at using an exhaust system from a Citabria on a PA-20 with a O-320 ?
What would the advantage be and would it fit the cowling? I guess it would get rid of the Piper exhaust AD. The Sutton works well on the Pacer.
I don’t know if it would fit in the Pacer cowl that is why I’m asking.
One advantage for myself would be no pipe sticking out at front.
”If” it would fit it looks as if it could exit out near the firewall.
It has been used on a Monocoupe 90A with an O-320 and those conversions use a Pacer type cowl.
We have two O-235 hp Citabrias here. Will get some measurements next time they have the cowling off.

The issue I see is the same issue I have seen with Maules that have a similar system, they crack and break where the tailpipe comes out of the muffler.
I have installed a system on my PA22/20-150 that looks very similar to your drawing. I purchased it from Custom Aircraft Parts (link below). They have many different designs, the P/N I got is 33276. All their systems are strictly for experimental aircraft, and it is up to you to get a field approval (which is very difficult - impossible - from many FSDO's)

I am very impressed with the quality of the system, and Clinton Anderson (the owner) is a wonderful person to work with, but he has no 'pull' with the FAA, so you need to have a strategy on getting approval - preferably before you shell out the cash!
You will have to design your exhaust hangers; I clamped mine from the engine mount to the junction of the mufflers and tailpipes - modeled after Bonanzas (well sort of) I do not see why they would be likely to crack,,, but I guess time will tell.

This style of system seems to be a fairly common type.
As you noted even the Bonanza ,yes I realize it is a six cylinder engine, is similar.
If the Sutton exhaust could exit out to the rear by the firewall,and stay inside the lower cowl, I would be more likely to go with that one.
I don’t think most people notice or care where that exhaust exits. I have been to many Shortwing Piper flyin’s, OSH, SnF and i never ever been asked about that big exhaust pipe sticking out of my cowl.
I treat it as a badge of honor. I don’t have to remove my exhaust every 50 hours; I had 1000 hours on a perfectly good Piper exhaust so it made sense to buy the Sutton rather than invest in another time limited muffler.
