Can anyone give me my options on engine model number and STC number to change from O290D2 to O320 in my 1950 Pacer.
I'm not sure, but it might be on the TC, so maybe no STC needed??
Thanks what does on the TC mean.
Dave
Type Certificate.....in other words it was a factory option so you can simply make the change.

It wasn't. Neither was the O-290-D2. Only the 125 horse O-290 (and, believe it or not, some were sold with the O-235-C1. These were the infamous Pacer "115" Model, the base model of which had no flaps).)
I am looking at my origional log books from my 1952 PA22 135 tripacer factory equiped with an o-290-d2 from the factory showing a tc No. of 1A6
serial number was 22-805 first flow in Dec. of 1952.
log entry of 1-8-80 indicates the 0-290-d2 was removed and replaced w/ 0-320-a2b [150 hp], a new PA22 150 OPERATIONS MANUAL WAS PROVIDED, THE PROP WAS A A74DM56.
LOG ENTRY INDICATES THIS WAS DONE IAW PER STC SA1-274 DRAWINGS AND INSTRUCTIONS. A 337 WAS SUBMITTED. NO MENTION OF ADDITIONAL RIBS BEING INSTALLED AT THIS TIME OR LATER. I WILL TRY TO LOCATE THE 337 AND POST WITH THIS MESSAGE. NEW WEIGHT AND BALANCE PERFORMED AT THIS INSPECTION.
I AM STILL SEARCHING FOR THE PIPER FACTORY MEMO CONCERNING THE REQUIREMENTS TO ADD AN ADDITIONAL RIB FOR THE HP UPGRADE. MY RECOLLECTION IS THAT IT WAS NEVER REQUIRED. I BELIEVE THE MEMO WAS WRITTEN BY MR, PIPER HIMSELF. I WILL POST THIS WHEN I LOCATE IT.
HOPE THIS HELPS. YOU WILL NEED TO LOCATE THE STC PAPERWORK ON THE SWPC WEBSITE OR MAYBE ANDYA'S SITE.

MARK PHILLIPS
Wag Aero has the STC for around $150. It uses a 150 hp O-320-Axx series engine or a C series which is a 160 hp B converted to low compression pistons. Do additional modifications are needed from what I recall. You V speeds and gross weight stays the same also if memory serves me correctly. Simple installation because everything except the baffles and prop are reused.Quote:
