Tthank you for the kind words! Yes, it doesn't look like much but it flys just fine! I'm saving it as another retirement project.
John...Here at SWPO, we are a fly whatcha brung group! We have some guys with "OMG" planes, and we have some with "ahh, you might want to have a look at that" planes. You will never hear anyone here chastise another for an old panel. You will get comments about safety of flight items.
Personally, if you are flying your plane VMC, with your head out the window and a big grin...Who cares what your panel looks like?
It's amazing how a couple of displays make the panel look so much cleaner. Nice job.

Thanks....Did the panel this way to get the iPad off my round leg strap flop about get in the way frustrating.....er thing....especially with two up front.
I decided to update the panel of the Super Exp 17 while I have it apart. The original panel Charlie had worked well but after seeing mmoyle's post I was inspired. I decided to put an iPad air running ForeFlight in the center, backup gauges around it and an icom 210 or 220 and possibly the new appareo ESG transponder. The dynon D2 will be a back up.... Switches will move down below on the ledge. Opinions are welcome! I have my 172 that is my more serious flyer, this is my everyday having fun plane!
Current configuration. I am planning to update the arrangements on the left to the 'standard-6' layout and redo the right side to take advantage of the EI insturment sizing and bring everything together.

Well... wow, posted the above back in 2014, I guess I didn't get it done as soon as I thought I would... but done none-the-less.
