We use the metalized tape rather than the normal Duct tape. Doesn't seem to leave the sticky residue when it comes off.

Anyone have a drawing for the oil cooler winterization plate? Seems like it would be easy to make.
Chris
I have seen cut license plates used.
It is almost precisely the dimension of the exposed face of the front oil cooler.
Foil ducting tape over the cooler itself is what I use. Stick it on, tear it off.
Here are some pics of the winterizarion plate. If I can upload them. Brian 20210107_113425.jpg20210107_113525.jpg20210107_113525.jpg20210107_113525.jpg
I have one that I don't need if anybody is looking for one. $20 to cover shipping and it's yours!
Hi,
I just sent you a pm about your cover plate, mine disappeared somehere.
Brian,
I have the same plate. Came with the plane. Funny that the previous owner lived in Monterey, Ca. Didn't seem to use it much. Since I moved the plane to PA it gets plenty of use and is pretty effective. Flew the other day with it on and my cylinder head temps stayed pretty low. Was almost concerned it was too effective and my CHTs weren't warm enough!

Here is how I do it. I have several plates but no telling where they are. For some reason I can always find the roll of tape.

Steve,
During Winter Operations using either the metal plate or the tape, what are the minimum or "good" CHT numbers that we ought to be seeing?
