On my Vagabond I don't have any static connected but know that my ASI over reads by about 7 MPH.
If I open the side window a bit I can reduce the ASI reading.....
I suspect that without your static connected you also have a slightly over reading ASI...

I rechecked my IAS with GPS ground speeds in 4 directions yesterday, my average GS is almost exactly the same as my IAS (less than 1 mph difference). I did my tests at 2450 and 2250 rpms. I used my table GPS and my Garmin G5 (which is WAAS certified). My static line is disconnected and open to the cabin. I expect not all planes will be the same.

You can also add heat on or off if your static is just the inside of the cabin.

Not sure if my vents change much in my leaky cabin. I know my heat doesn't.

If you are flying something with a pressurized cabin maybe, but a leaky rag and tube bird?? I don't think you could get enough ram air in a vent of heater to change the pressure in the cabin enough to effect the readings. I have never noticed any changes pulling on the vents or heaters on any rag and tube I have ever flown.
At the end of the day for flight times and planning, your GPS speed across the ground is all the really matters, the fuel burn could care less about the airspeed indicated. Only critical speed is on landing and the seat of your pants should be a lot more accurate than the dial on the dash you shouldn't be staring at anyway.

Flying yesterday, I played with my air vents. The IAS needle barely moved opening and closing my window vents. Maybe 1 mph difference. The IAS slightly lowers with vents open and cabin pressure increased.
My static air is vented into my cabin.
One mph IAS is not relevant to me. Like AK says, I mostly use ground speed when cruising and IAS in the pattern until short final.
