Aileron pulley boxes on floor
Do my floor mounted aileron pulley boxes look stock For my 1956 PA 22–150? Looking inside the volume of these —they are huge relative to the small size of the pulleys they protect from my size 10 feet. I could make something smaller and less obtrusive in the precious area of the foot box. Are these original? Yes they are two different colors I haven’t painted the black one yet.BF4E1395-B6AE-4D8C-939A-EA7594415A45.jpegBBDA8988-635A-413B-9E25-290A050C3BEA.jpegIf these are original has anyone ever messed with making them a little bit smaller in volume? I have the Williams toe brake STC if curious. Thanks.

All 3 PA-22s I’ve owned had covers like mmoyles.

The original covers are welded up steel.. Yours are not original

Thank you so much Mark and Brian. That curved shape makes so much more sense to me.

Re: Aileron pulley boxes on floor
I looked at a lot of photos and made my own -- I used some rather heavy aluminum from a commercial refrigeration evaporator drain pan. Very stiff. One piece, four rivets, screwed to floor. Check out the pattern; all dimensions I used are there. (This was from back in 2012, before I had my aircraft riveting set...)

Re: Aileron pulley boxes on floor
I have a pair of originals on my colt. They look almost exactly like Walt's pictures except for the fancy surface. Mine are smooth and painted black. That Template drawing should be put in the technical section for the future.
