Can't figure out if my sending unit is bad or a bad ground. Under normal operation my left fuel indication is fine, the right however fluctuated for a couple days and has been dead ever since. Went through the whole system tightening, checking grounds but still dead on the right side. When testing the sending wire at the (L & R gauge indicator switch) I get 27 OHMs on the right tank (which is accurate with about 10 mins of flying out of it) and 0 on the left but the left is the one that's working? took off the ground for the sending unit and they were all gummed up, cleaned them and re grounded them to numerous points on the airplane with no flicker or anything. I'm beginning to think it's a sending unit problem but with it indicating 27 ohms at the gauge selection switch i'm thoroughly confused now? Can't be a gauge problem because it's indicating fine with the left tank fine. How do i know for sure if it's a ground or sending unit itself problem?

"Use an OHM Meter read between the flange on the sending unit and the back of the instrument panel. You should read a short circuit, zero ohms"

Not sure what the quote from the poster above means?

Thanks a bunch for any help, This is driving me nuts!

What it means is the flange of the sender must be grounded to the instrument panel. If not all kinds of strange indications will be present.

Did you look at the attached diagram in post #5 above?

    Question fuel gauges

    Ok folks

I read the solution somewhere on this site but can't find it now.

have the one gauge- with a L-R switch setup

fuel gauge is indicating full at all times-.no indicating change Left or right, they peg at" full" as soon as the master is turned on-

had a look at the wiring....
    what am I missing....

    thanks

You are missing the connection to the gage most likely. When that wire to sender is open the gage pegs to full +.

I had similar problem as you and replaced the gauge with aerospace. What's nice no need for a switch and it's pretty accurate. I just calibrated my the other day. My model is FL202 resistive.

Shane is talking about my plane. The fuel gauge does move, just have to wait till I use up about 1.5 hours of gas from each tank.

My right tank gauge reads 1\4 when full and drops to E when half full, below E when 1\4 full. Any ideas of what is going on? The sender seems to ohm out ok.
    Thanks in advance.
