Elevator trim

Flying my tripacer today with my instructor and on final with flaps in and a little back pressure, started to trim and the trim became very stiff, but after landing it worked fine and i could not see anything obviously wrong. has anyone else had this experience? any ideas?

Unzip your headliner next to the trim handle pully and as you turn the crank with one hand put pressure on the cable as it enters the pully with other hand.

I would make sure you don't have any congealed grease in the jackscrew threads, If you do clean it out and lubricate running the trim through it's full range.

I don't think that is the problem as He didn’t say anything about it slipping .

if for some reason you were trimming different than your norm, I would say dirty jack screw. run it its full travel on the ground. If you know its clean I would side with Gilbert

The pin that holds the trim handle can work it’s way out causing it to feel stiff or prevent you from turning the handle. Found that once on Marv’s trim system. The pin starts life as a straight or slightly curved 1/8” or so diameter pin. When it’s driven into the handle and shaft it deforms forms to an arc...the pin worked loose on Marv’s Pacer...straightened it a bit..then installed with a dab of bearing lock from loctite. I used a stretching body hammer (used to thin the metal to crate a curve) to back up the assembly while I drove in the pin with a roll pin punch...third hand needed to eliminate bending or damaging the assembly when driving in that pin.

May want to also confirm the yoke is up not down, not sure it matters though, read here it works fine right or upsidedown

I clean the jack screw at annual and lube the pulleys. That always makes it runs smoother.
