    Default PA-16 Clipper fuel caps

What are the Clippers in the group using for fuel caps. I think what I have may be the original fuel caps with a vent tube that was soldered/brazed on the top when it was modified to be a vented cap. if they aren’t the original caps then they are pretty old and we’re modified from unvented to vented at some point. I forgot to take pictures when I was at the hangar last time.

I was looking to replace them with something a little less ugly looking. I know that there are the Univair and the Attlee Dodge caps available. Based on info from the Univair website neither is eligible for the PA-16.

I didn’t see any other posts discussing this and thought I would ask. Thanks in advance. I will get pictures next time I at the airport.

The original caps bring high dollar on ebay, Knucklehead and Panhead used the same cap https://www.ebay.com/itm/original-Ha...d/143123132230

Eaton stamp on the hold down tongue plate riveted between the vent holes

We got a pair of the Univair 3267 caps a few years back, at that time they were described as "J3 thru PA-22", not sure why they skip the 16-17 now. Vented, work perfectly and look great if not vintage...

The nose tank on the Clipper had the forward facing vent tube.

ok. Thanks for the pictures and link. $250, ouch. I’m thinking that the ones I have are automotive caps that have been modified. Thanks for the info.

Based on what I am seeing is the Univair 3267 caps are the Attlee Dodge caps. The same ones are available from Atlee Dodge, Dakota Cub, and Univair. Good to know that you use these and don’t have any problems.

Univair and Atlee Dodge have caps for a lot less than $250.

Sorry Steve, I forgot to mention that the fuselage tank was removed back in the 1960’s and a wing tank from a Colt was installed in the right wing on a Field Approval.

Since we are talking Clipper fuel system stuff, I know most times when a right tank is installed, the nose tank is removed. Has anyone ever seen a Clipper where the right tank is installed and the nose tank is retained?
