    Default Platinum Pacer Wings

    Wing ready for cover.
Question: Aluminum cleaning. The Superflight book says to use Alumiprep 33. I have Chemfil DX503.. any issues using that stuff?

Second question.. superflight specifies using their SF80 epoxy primer... works like primer filler...Iíd rather use PPGís Desoto fluid resistant epoxy primer...the same stuff Boeing uses...and I used on the spars and other aluminum wing parts. Iím think about applying paint to the leading edge tank bay and false spar...leaving the new ribs bare..or maybe just a light coat of the green stuff on the skeletal parts of the wing.

If it was me, I'd spray the whole damn thing, you've done such a nice job on those and a little protection would be worth it.... it would be 2 or 3 lbs well worth it in my opinion.....

Iíve got some of the same primer, havenít used it yet. How did you like using it? Looks like the instructions say 2parts primer, 1part activator, and 4 - 4.5 parts distilled water. Is that what you used? Did it spray like other epoxy primers?

The stuff I have is a one to one paint/catalyst mixture ratio. One coat coverage and flows well. Have to clear out a portion in the basement below where the wings are located in the shop... etching today...requires water rinsing....itíll all drain through the floor..maybe paint by this evening. The Superflight epoxy primer requires two coats and requires sanding between coats...yeah no...not sanding unless I find debris in the green paint...And...itís my brides favorite color...

Must be a different primer, what I have is 44Y-022 from PPG/Deft.

Painting during a blizzard. 16F degrees and 25 mph winds... painting be the final task before covering the wings.

I like your rotator. What material/section/size did you use to make the ring? It looks to be about 7 feet diameter?
