As pointed put by others, not illegal for an owner to polish a prop but a repair station cannot let one out of the shop unpainted because they are required to follow the manufacturer’s instructions. It doesn’t have to make sense, it’s the FAA.

I say polish your props and enjoy them. I doubt any serious corrosion that will affect airworthiness will appear before the next buffing.

Thank you, I do live in a location where corrosion isn’t anything to be concerned about.... certainly it’s easier to spot with a polished propeller.
