What does the correct plate for pacer and tripacer look like?
I’m not sure when Piper changed from the data plate shown in post #11, but early in the 1950s. My ‘57 TriPacer had the larger rectangular plate on the right front floor board. Both Clippers I’ve had had the smaller plate shown in post #11 back in the tail held in place with welding wire. I know the 1950 Pacers had the smaller plate in the tail as well. The regulations changed in November of 1950 requiring a “fireproof” data plate, but I think Piper had an exemption and was allowed to use up their stock of aluminum plates for a while after that.
