New to the Pacer.
Hello, I hope this isn't the wrong place for this, but I purchased a 57 PA-20-150. I'm a newer pilot, with only 160 hours, all tri-gear. I bought the Pacer to learn tailwheel. I'm in Georgia, just south of Atlanta. Just wanted to introduce myself, and say I'm enjoying reading all of the forums. Thanks all! I will try and get a picture posted at some point soon.

Hi Dave, welcome and best wishes for learning. My instructor told me to spend a day just taxiing around the airport. Up and down every taxiway and runway. It was a “wax on wax off thing”. But it made tailwheel seem intuitive. My other piece of advice is not to worry about a bounce, just hold the yoke back and keep her straight let the bungee do it’s job. Hope you have as easy a transition as I did. Brian

Pick a tree at the end of the runway and aim for it.
Two books to read, “Stick and Rudder”’ by Wolfgang Langewiesche; and “The Compleat Taildragger”’ by Harvey S. Plourde.
These where instrumental for my understanding and training.

Spend some time with a good instructor not just a few hours for a tailwheel sign off. Pacers are tricky but can be a handful. Learn to look out the side window for your elevation on landing. Power on landings help smooth things out. The two books above are great and about all the reading you need for now. DENNY

only time I had a pacer try and get tricky was when the gear was twisted. If wheels are aligned its a sweetheart to fly.

When I look out the side window to spot the runway I bounce and weave. When I focus way down the on center line I make better landings and roll out straight.
Use whatever works best for you.

I dont look out the side either.. only time I ever did that is when the windshield was covered in oil
