I saw that as well. Very sad. Thoughts and prayers for the families and the survivor for a full recovery.

Some are saying that the deceased pilot did not have his private pilot license and was a student pilot! Egads!!! Really?
They also say the women that died was a FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR.
I checked the FAA Airman registry, searching the last name of DOWLAND, only three hits, all men.
I couldn't find anything indicating she was an aviator. She owned a spa in Prescott Valley AZ.
Uncertain who owned the plane as all the database/websites, including FAA, only show list of owners prior to sale in Dec 2018.
Sad story alright, she left three teen age kids and her mom behind.
Let's all be careful and conscientious out there.

If the FAA records are to be trusted, he shows only a Student Pilot Certificate and the aircraft was registered to her. And while there is no record of her having ANY FAA certificates, it’s possible that a name change is or was pending.
Certainly sad and our thoughts and prayers go out to both them and their families. I think this will ending up being and interesting story however.
I wonder if they will find out what happened. From the pictures it looks like a very bad accident.
