    Default Odyssey Battery

Gilbert, are you using the Odyssey "dry cell" battery? What do you think?

I am not sure about certified planes, but a friend used one in his RV9 and I put one in the experimental Vagabond I used to have and it was great. Don't have to worry about fumes or fluid and it spun the starter so fast I could have taxied with it I think.

I am using the Hawker (OdysseY) J-16 that is FAA/PMA'd and STC'd for the PA-18. Got it installed on a field approval. It saved me 9 lbs of empty wt. Could have saved more by throwing away the Piper battery container and installing like they do in the PA-18.
I have had it for over a year with no compaints. It seems to have more power than my Gill G25. The best part is I don't have to worry about it puking acid on my new fabric. I will send you a copy of the 337 if want to try it.

What about installing a Gill or Concord Sealed battery. The only disadvantage is the weight compared to the Hawker, but they both make sealed RG-35A, RG-35AXC and G-35S.

Ben, They work well also. I have installed sevearal over the years. I just put one in a Stearman. The Odysesey?Hawker battery has given very good service in AK, some say they have gotten 8 years of trouble free service, and the small light weight package.

G-BTLM uses A Gill sealed battery but with 160hp and airfield at 475ft weight is not a problem.

They do seem to go well down lower altitudes, those little wings work in denser air. One strip I work out of is only 200 amsl and I recon the Pacer would be off the ground in maybe 150 metres with just under gross load.

I too would also like a copy of the 337, if possible. The Odyssey battery seems to perform well in OUR PLANES. I plan to install in my Pacer.
