Default Question re: drilled holes in front carrythrough tube

Not sure this is the right forum for this but I will ask anyway. On my 63 Colt there are two closely spaced holes [#8?], one in front of the other, drilled in the underside of the front carry through tube just inside of the tube cluster, on both sides of the air frame. I stripped this airframe 2 years ago and took lots of photos but apparently none of what may have been attached at this location. I have no idea if these are original or ??. Checking the SWPC Piper Drawing #15134 there is a reference to a left [10262-25 L]and right [10262-27 R] 'plate assembly' in this area, though for what I don't yet know. If anyone does know the purpose of the holes I would appreciate a comment. I've attached a couple of photos -

$100 says someone installed sun visors. There should be no holes drilled in tubes, period, especially that tube. I would weld them up.

I would also recommend adding a little "Tube Seal Line Oil" inside the tube before you weld it up. Helps to prevent rust.

Thanks Rick. I think I still have some on the shelf.
