I take-off/land on the left tank. Right tank is used for cruising around. I'll generally switch tanks every 30 minutes on cross countries until about 1/2 tanks, then run the right tank dry.

    Just my personal technique though.

Here's a link to the Dakota fuel valve: https://dakotacub.com/index.php?opti...display_id=127
I don’t know why, but I cannot open the link....

I really don't understand why the folks on this site don't buy the Maule Valve. It cost about $120 and is what is required in the Trimmer STC so it is a good one. It is the same as the Piper valve EXCEPT it allows you to feed from BOTH tanks IF you want to.

Its a great valve, thats what I use, well I have the Piper version the Piper p/n 77413-02 that was the factory installed valve in the 1980's Piper singles, and also sold as the replacement valve for the old brass cone valve that was causing all the fuel starvation accidents getting froze up and not turning.

Aircraft Spruce sells the Maule valve for $26. its the Weatherhead 6749 model and like you said, it is easily converted to a BOTH selector if you want it https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catal...ages/whfsv.php

I like the Allen type valves, very notchy position, but I dont $400. like it when a $26. valve that is well proven will work fine and last decades.

Weeeellll...., I installed the Dakota valve on my pacer and flew it all the time in the Both position. The draw down was pretty close to equal for me. I never ran the tanks much below the 1/2 level. The only problem I ever had was topping off the tanks and parking on a hill. Fuel went to the down hill tank and over flowed until I saw it and realized what was happening. Luck - Dwain

One other aspect of the Dakota valve that I found... well, somewhat of a surprise: when in the OFF position, there's apparently a feed through the valve between both tanks. They will eventually equalize while sitting with the valve in the OFF position. Just something to keep in mind.

Thank you. Yes, especially during the refueling or in a slope parking...
Andair valve for example in OFF are completely “sealed”: every passage is closed.
