There was likely a lot of lobbying by Kit Builders and the EAA.

My son and I were talking about Super Pacer-ing one of his airplanes. Might be something we are looking at initiating in a couple years. This thread was super helpful, as well as some others, but wanted to bump this one to keep the contact info more readily findable.

I would start now collecting Cub and Pacer wing parts. Also, locate a pair of SC ailerons. You can get your ailerons ready anytime. I would wait until your wing is layed out before making your flaps. Also, order your plans and start studying, they will leave you with questions. It will be a fun project.

    Newbie question here…

Could the WagAero Wagabond plans along with this STC build a Super Pacer and be a legal experimental by FAA standards?

    Thx in advance,

I guess I'm missing something, or maybe the question is. If you are starting by building a WagAbond then you are EX/AB front the get go, and no STC required to stretch or lengthen the wings. If you are looking at starting with a Pacer and calling it a WagAbond, then using the SuperPacer drawings(not STC as it wouldn't be needed), then the answer is "maybe" if you do "enough" on the original fuselage, like chop the whole rear from the cabin section off & build new to match the drawings, then likely yes, but it would depend on the inspector & how well you documented the work you did on the fuselage. Wings would be the same way, there is nothing to say that you can't use whoevers ribs(spars, attachments, hangars, etc) you want, including certified, so Univair, Dakota, Smith, Javron, D&E, etc, or yes Piper would all be fair game. If I were going that route I would document all the work & time & not even mention that the forward portion of the fuselage was once a Piper, you are likely to have several repairs on the front section anyway that will also lend to the build time(SB819, though I wouldn't call it that as that's a Piper thing, and any rusted tube for instance).

    Thanks Doc,

Yes, building a Wagabond from scratch… What you’ve said is exactly what I needed to know.

Does anyone have some good pictures of a Super Pacer or a link to good pictures of Super Pacers built exactly to this STC? I’d like to see some examples of completed and flying real airplanes they wouldn’t mind posting. I’ve seen lots of pictures of Stephen’s airplane (amazing airplane IMO) but his landing gear are not the same as a true STC Super Pacer. Right? Thx

Correct, my Pacer had the Univair STC when I did the Super Pacer STC. I have since modified my plane again with the Trimmer PA 18 gear.

I don't know of any Super Pacer STC mods that went with the Super Pacer gear in their modification.

can these stcs be stacked though? Trimmers gear on the super pacer stretch?

and for clarification, one could purchase the super pacer stc and do some of the mods, but not all of them?
