    Default Lava Creek Moose Hunt

We had the minimum number of participating aircraft to qualify as a Short Wing Gathering...but there we were.

Brought a moose home after it was all said and done.

Looks like a pretty nice spot.
What's the deal with the barricade around the tent?

Electric fence to dissuade bears or other surprise furry visitors.

Could be a problem if you forget about and get up in the night to take a leak.

So far so good in over 20 years of using them. I highly recommend them in southwest Alaska. It really is nice to be able to sleep.

Troy, what do you use as a power source for the fence? Is the fence something you put together, or did you buy it already made up.

I really like your night shot picture. Great photography.

The charger we used is borrowed from a friend and uses AA batteries. Mine uses D batteries but it quit on me after 15 years so I had to borrow a different one. I usually buy fences that are mostly complete. A search for 'electric bear fence' turns up the easy options pretty quickly.
