Default Old Piper ad -- wishful thinking?

I have several of these older Piper ads for the Pacer at home and I finally got around to reading through some of them. This ad claims cruise speeds of "up to 134 mph," which I assume means with the (then) optional 135hp engine. Our Pacer has that engine, but we rarely see about 120 mph.

I understand ads aren't operating handbooks, but what were they doing to get those speeds with this engine? I guess they did have the "controllable prop" with the 135hp engine option. We have a fixed-pitch prop, but it is pitched for climb at the moment (doesn't help my cruise situation, obviously).

Anyway, just thought it was interesting. I enjoy these ads.

I remember reading somewhere that you should keep full power on for at least five minutes prior to reducing to cruise power. I know on my plane if I don’t get it firmly “on step” the speed falls of quite rapidly.
It’s a sales ad also, so you know 50% of it is bs.

I have flow newer "old" airplanes after they put performance data in the pilots handbook and some of those did not meet the handbook performance data, nothing new ...

I think the “125” and “135” were the same 125hp engine, but the numbers referred to their cruise speeds. I think the “135” had the controllable pitch prop.

Pacer 135 was only for flying part 135, something like that. From the 1950 poh

The actual 135 hp O290D2 was not an option or even certified until two years after the Pacer "135" became available in 1950.

Don't know where you got this but Part 135 originated in 1964 so kinda hard for me to believe.

Yes, my funny bone took over the keyboard for a second. I wonder if any Pacer 135 actually left the factory, have you seen a copper prop, curious why it wasnt offered on the Pacer 115, too heavy?

You gotta add some laughing emojis next time.
I have a friend in his 90s who had a PA16 with the Aeromatic prop. Loved it. Is on the Type Certificate as well.
