Default Remove old glue and grit from floor pans

I’m a new owner and am just wanting to dig in with some basics cleaning. What should I try to remove old carpet glue from the floor pans. I tried simple green and a paint scraper. I’ve read boiling water and goo gone or should I try something more aggressive?

    Thank you!

I would try Acetone or MEK.

    Hi,

Sometime WD40 workswell for that kind of stuff, or even deisel. Lay a paper towel on the area to hold the whatever wet and let it sit for a while first.

I would just add that solvents may work well, but pull the floor out first. You do not want them dripping on things below.

When I needed to get some sticky adhesive off a fabric panel (upholstry fabric had been glued to the internal cabin fabric) I used a rag soaked in Avgas.
It slowly dissolved the adhesive but didn't affect the fabric surface paint/dope.

Sometimes itís just easier to shear a new piece of aluminum! Floors are just flat sheet and layout is easy!

If you decide to do the MEK trick, get the plane outside if possible to have good ventilation.
I did the same trick in a hangar with no outside air available. eyesight started doing some funny things
until I went out into fresh air.
