    Default Patrol door

I bought a right door off ebay that was damaged in shipment to me. A spare time fix-it project turned into a patrol door over the past couple weeks. I removed and hammered out the smashed up aluminum flanges on the upper window frame, but you can still see some wrinkled aluminum on the triangle corner reinforcements and the top piece. I may redo those from new stock later. For the patrol window I thought about sandwiching the Lexan between the square steel frame and alu. skin, but decided to mimic the original Piper approach for mounting as is done for the stock window. I screwed 1/2" aluminum angle from Ace inside the frame for a support flange. I cut the .093" Lexan to fit inside the steel frame and rest on the aluminum flange. This allowed the original door skin to be mounted in same location, flush against steel square frame. I cut and glued very thin polyurathane foam strips for window seals and used a double thickness of the foam seals on the vertical reinforcement to hopefully damp window drumming. Now I have to find out if it fits in the fuse frame where my original door still resides. I've heard here that these dimensions varied from the factory. Also, I don't know how to rotate these pics once I've uploaded them.

Don't think this is/was my idea. I got it from Steve.
I think he sandwiches his Lexan window if I followed the string correctly, but please don't quote me. I just like the idea of being able to look out and down to the right when I'm driving.

Looks like you are putting the Pacer to use up in Alaska! I'm loving the bush wheels and patroller door.
