    Default CF-UWA has gone west

    HI all

it is with sadness that I have to tell you folks that last evening my 54 Tripacer crashed on takeoff. Suspected Carb icing. I thank God that my Partner walked away with basically not a scatch. FUWA- not so much.

If I may- to any Shortwing people out there who do not have shoulder harnesses installed= please do so- IMHO - shoulder harnesses saved my friend's life last night.

I will keep you folks in the loop

    take care all
    Shane

Sad news indeed. However, glad to hear that nobody was hurt.

We installed shoulder harnesses and fortunately have never had to test them. However, I do feel safer knowing that they are there.

Sorry to hear that. FTR, I have had the displeasure to auger in with and without 4 point restraints. Spend the $ and time to install the shoulder harnesses and not just the single across the chest belt, you will roll right out of that and eat the panel.
Glad to hear your partner is OK!

So sorry to hear that Shane, you guys put so much effort into the restoration of that plane.....it's sad to hear of it's demise. Glad your bud wasn't injured....those belts are the best mod for these planes safety wise.

    We need some pics....

Hate to hear this but glad the pilot is ok. Can you tell us what the weather was like and why you suspect carb ice?
