I also have heard the ballast story when having a passenger up front with you. Would you put the ballast in before so he does not see you doing it? I suppose if he were a little overweight he may think you only did this to make him feel bad. It would be, put up with the way it fly's, put up with? or make him ride in the back! Kiddin around again. I took my woman flying and did not notice it to be any different than any other plane with someone up front. I really over use the trim wheel on the ceiling especially on final approach so maybe that helps me forget about that fat ass next to me.
    “That fat ass”

I hope your woman hasn’t the forum password!!

    Ahahahaha.

    Very happy!!
I did only some pattern, just to understand if everything works fine.
I noted with 58" prop is very quick in take off, 2 on board and around 3/4 fuel, climb a 70 mph at 1000 ft/min !!! I cannot give a lot of numbers because I think that my tachometer isn't correct... I will test ASAP.

I- ARME needs some more rudder than I used to. I must learn to menage correctly adverse yaw...
It doesn't really stall, probably 2 on board is too heavy in front?? I red something about put a ballast in baggage area....

Probably for the same reason It hasn't enough elevator authority in the flare.

    Any suggestion?

Anyway, very very happy for the result!!

    Thank you.

    Alex.
Alessandro, it is a common problem to not have enough control authority to get a PA-22 into a full stall. Usually gap seals fix this issue. If you search this forum, there a a couple discussion about gap seals.

    Enjoy your Tri-Pacer,

    Thank you Juergen.

Yesterday I ordered Foam Gap Seal from CubCrafter.
    We will see...

And I must also test the tachometer: with 58” I go over 2700 in take off.... I think there is something “strange”!!

I have a 58” pitch on my prop on a 160 HP engine and I can’t get to 2,700 RPM or takeoff. Maybe between 2,300 and 2,400, but not sure. Even in cruise flight I can only get close to 2,700 RPM, but I don’t know how good my tachometer is.

I bought a digital tachometer used in motorbikes, very simple (and it seems accurate).

There is a small wire, is not necessary connect, just wrap 3 or 4 times around spark plug cable.

    Cheap, 20 euro.

    Just to make some test.

Make sure have full up elevator authority. I have found a couple that due rigging, the elevator would not go all the way to the up stop in the tail.

I red on CD the rigging is 24 degrees up and 12 down respect stabilator.
This value must be checked in any stabilator trim position?

I didn’t check if the elevator go all the way to the up stop.....
    I must do.

    Thank you Gilbert.

Trim position doesn’t matter. The elevator should go up against the stop with full up elevator on the yoke.
