Default Test install of wheel pants....

While I知 waiting for scheduled time to fly, and addressing discrepancies, I知 doing a trial install of my main gear wheel pants. I decided to go with a purple that痴 close to what I can get in Polytone (christian eagle purple). I知 thinking of leaving the gear legs and undercarriage white, but adding the typical factory color scheme in CE purple.

The power cord is running a small space heater, to ensure that my airplane is fully dried out.
    Clear skies and smooth air,

All purple or only as an accent color?

All purple with a gray stripe. Can't find any pictures, to long ago I guess. Had an O-290-D2 and went like stink. Four different friends owned it.

I’ve snuck it into our big common hanger to plug in my space heater.... to dry out the interior. I’ll dig up more information.

It’s apparently a WWII Kodiac hanger. I assume originally built for the early weapons testing done in concert with Cal Tech’s GALCT (Guggenheim Aero Laboratory at Cal Tech). As I understand it the 7000 ft runway was built as an emergency layover on the Los Angels to Reno airmailing route, and was “discovered” by the navy when it became apparent that there just wasn’t room to test anywhere near Pasadena. At about the 23 minute mark in the video, you’ll see more of the airport, the hanger, my aircraft out in front, and something additional about the location.

As far as color schemes go, dark colors on the upper wing is difficult to see from above over green areas. One of our local pilots had dark blue wings. He added big white stars to be seen better. It helped.....some. I still lose him easily when we are flying together.
