No oil cooler on the O-235. That’s one reason for going with the remote filter, get some surface area for cooling.

@dgapilot looks great! Thank you for sharing. I was in the fence about buying this exhaust since I too have a 235 on my J-5A. Would you mind sharing the field approval? That would help my local feds out tremendously! Thank you!

Dawley, not Divco! Don’t know why I got that mixed up!

What is the approval route for this exhaust on a pacer?

Typically you would be looking for a Field Approval if your local FSDO is still doing Field Approvals. Otherwise, a DER approval or a DAR Field Approval. FAA is free if they will do it, DARs and DERs cost you money.

iirc: you are or were a DAR. I don't think we're anywhere near each other so I'm not really asking you to take on this job but what would I expect to pay for such services. I know you can't speak for others in the business but in general terms what kind of time commitment would it take?

I’m both a DAR and DER. Most DAR services I charge at a fixed rate. DER stuff I charge $100 per hour, but that’s well below what other DERs charge. I’ve seen some that charge $1000 an hour or more.
