Hopefully, this successfully leads to allowing 978MHz ADBS outside the US.

the tailBeaconX is a 1090ES device. uAvionix is seeking volunteers to help get certification completed more quickly.
Also, Aireon doesn't receive UAT on their satellite network:

IIRC, Aireon was selected by Nav Canada as their ADS-B network provider.

I was involved peripherally with the FAA's "ADS-B link decision" in the early 2000's, which ended up with two different technologies. UAT was pushed (politically) by US general aviation interests and the Alaska Capstone project. The airlines and the rest of the world supported 1090ES. The FAA made a split decision in an effort to keep everyone happy. I'm not aware of any other country that plans to adopt UAT.

Nav Canada initially said they were going with a more expensive satellite system, expensive to the end user and cheaper for them. Their system requires a top and bottom antenna so I guess a 1090ES would work on the tail. They recently delayed the implementation date.
