    Default Post something in here!

I'm really wanting to get out and fly all over the country this spring and summer and would like to see this thread populated with all kinds of options. Where's everybody going this year? Sure, Sun and Fun (in my backyard) and Oshkosh are on my list, and I might have to see the High Sierra fly-in once in my life, but I'd like to do more. So many of the smaller gatherings - camping under the wing things seem to be really for Super Cubs and such. But some might be ok for a regular Tri-Pacer with some 7.00x6 tires and good short-field technique. I'd like to know about those and begin some planning since I'm coming from the Space Coast area in FL and have to figure out who's going to feed the cats. If there are any known good links or references to fly-in's where some of you are planning to go it would be greatly appreciated if you would just drop those in here somewhere....Thanks in advance!

Johnson Creek, Idaho is no problem for a Tri-Pacer and is a great place to camp and take in beatiful country. Bob Christiansen delivers the ice cream in his Tri-Pacer. Gaston's in Arkansas is another one we are planning on along with a camping trip this spring in Utah, probably Mexican Mountain. Lots of places a Tri-Pacer will go there as well with beautiful scenery everywhere.

Thanks for the feedback all. What are the runway/landing strip identifiers to use for accurate location (using Foreflight or FlyQ, etc.) for Johnson Creek, (googled 3U2???), and others? Trying to do planning. Thanks again. I need to buy a backcountry flying book...

If you fly to Idaho, Johnson Creek is an excellent choice. Also, consider Garden Valley and Smiley Creek both, easy for Fri Pacers, they have showers, nice grass camping area and are beautiful. A little more rustic consider Chamberlain or Moose Creek. You should order "Fly Idaho" on Amazon. Washington, Oregon and Montana have good places also.

Sub, look at YouTube for combinations of Tri-Pacer + mountain, camping, remote, airstrip, etc.
    Ask you AOPA regional coordinator.
    Check out https://theraf.org/ for ideas.
There are tons of great places to explore all over the country.
And it's great fun flying into Johnson Creek in a Tri-Pacer; the Supercub guys know we can carry in a lot of beer in a Tri-Pacer so you are never lonely.

I thought you lived in California, was I mistaken?
And do you have 700x600 tires on the mains, and 600x600 on the nose, or ???
Post a photo of your plane showing the wheels!

    Cheers,

I really wish I'd have had my private certificate by now as I'd be headed to Copper State this weekend. I'd get to talk to Mr Jim Stanton and see his latest Tailwind up close, as well as meet a few other forum members here.

I guess it's all for the best as I have Reader and Lay Eucharistic Ministry / Chalice duty this Sunday at church. Maybe this will be my first year at Oshkosh by'gosh?? Maybe....
