    Definitely a Maule. The thing sticking out of the side is supposed to be shimmy damper.
    Attached is a copy of Drew Fidoe's Maule Tailwheel Inspection, Repair and Setup. I became intimately familiar with it until I finally replaced it with an ABI 3200 on my Clipper.

    Thanks. This thing has been frozen stuck since before I bought it and I intend to take it apart and see if my IA and I can figure out what's messed up.
