Default Flap ends and hinge cover bays

How do you guys finish out the fabrics on the flap ends and hinge bays? Piper calls for part 41723 bulk head cover in drawing 12484 but looking at the pictures from Andyís Pacer restoration thread I donít see the covers.
The inset end in the photo is what I am talking about. Thanks

On the ends of the flap and aileron you cover over the end making it flat froom leading edge to trailing edge. On the hinge bay the fabric rolls over the edge then a piece of fabric cut to the shape of the nose rib goes inside and coveres/ bonds all of the little ends together where the overlap into the rib.

    Hope this helps,

I like Steve's idea. I've glued the fabric into the the end rolling it around. I've seen people do the same then finish it off by filling the end with a block of foam.

Just a side note, if you look at the drawing closely you will see there is supposed to be a hole drilled the the trailing edge of the rib. That is to let any moisture out of the trailing edge, but I have never seen that hole in any flap or aileron and even after removing the cover, I have never seen that hole. So while it is on the drawing Piper never put the hole in either.

This might be the drain hole.

I covered the ends by wrapping the lower fabric over the end.20200312_185046.jpeg20200312_190815.jpeg20200312_191338.jpeg

No, the Piper drawing, and I will have to look it up again, shows a drilled hole in the inboard rib about where the screw is. I will look up the drawing when I get home this evening.

On drawing #12475 (Aileron) and #12484 (Flap) see figure 2, 1/8" drain hole thru fabric and rib. I have never seen that hole in any flap or aileron, but it is on the Piper drawing, however my 53 restoration does have those holes because I drilled them.
