    Default Jackscrew and Yoke Installation

I always have to look at my notes when installing the jackscrew and yoke. All those different size washers can be confusing.

Item 7 washer is 1"ODx.375/.385"IDx.095" thick is under the pulley on the jackscrew.

Item 10 washer is 1 1/8"ODx.375/.385"IDx .062" thick and is on top of the pulley.

Item 11 are Piper part no. 407-587 or AN960-616 washers.

This information came from looking through all the associated drawings on the jackscrew installation, washer drawings and the parts manual.

Thanks Steve, always good to see the "Big Picture" and have someone knowlegable get us the rest of the story. The drawing is a bit mis-leading with respect to the orintation of the yoke, refering to the on-going discussions of "V" up or down, this drawing seems to show it both ways!! Recognize that this is probably more of an ilstrated parts breakdown, rather than detailed assembly drawing.

    Enjoy the day,

From what I can see on the supercub cd it looks like the yoke is one way on the cub and the opposite way on the shortwings, so a guy that works on both could easily get confused.

Rule of thumb is the vee of the yoke points towards the trim handle. trim up above like a Pacer yoke points up, on the sidewall like a cub it points down. The jackscrew on a Cub has to go out the top which means you have to cut fabric.

Does anyone have a picture or drawing of the jack screw arraignment on a colt. I don't know if ours is put together correctly.

Seen pictures of several short wings with the yoke pionting down like a J3 or Pa18, instead of pointing up like it should. What would the stab travel be installed upside down like that?

My Clipper trimmed fine with the yoke upside down. I didn't realize it was wrong until I disassembled the airplane for rebuild.
