Default Looking for a tube/rag mechanic to do a prebuy near San Diego

Hello all, there's a taildragger Tri Pacer conversion that I'm interested in buying at KSEE (Gillespie Field) just a little east of San Diego, but I need a tube/rag experienced IA to do a prebuy for me.

I had a contact who knew someone down there, but I'm not getting a response from him, so I'm asking the local experts here for assistance. If this doesn't work, I'll start calling FBOs.

This would be my first airplane, so I don't really trust myself, plus its a long-distance affair. I tried searching the forum, but didn't find any names, so either I'm searching wrong or this hasn't really been covered before.

    Thanks for any help!

I am sure the California contingent will chime in with a god mechanic. In the meantime you might find this helpful.

Are you from SD ? Check with the EAA Chapter 14 guys at Brown Field. You'll find lots of tube & fabric guys there.

I'm up at Flabob. A&P IA. Been pretty busy but might be able to figure something out.
    Are you in the area?

No. I'm 2000 miles away (eastern KY), which is why I'm asking you folks who you know, because I don't know anybody. Thanks for the names/leads. Just sent an email to the address that EAA had listed.

You can do your own initial inspection. Look over the outside and check for paint cracks that expose fabric. Check all Plexi glass for clarity and cracks. Check interior for overall condition. Check to see if there is a modern comm radio and transponder. Does it have ADSB out. Check to see if it has sealed struts. Check the log books to see the compression for the last 5 years or so. Look to see how the last few annuals went. Check time on engine. Check prop for filing repairs. Run engine and check for oil leaks.
