    Marc, The empty weight C.G. is 71.13 or 11.13" aft of the LE.
    We have the Univair STC SA45RM and it went on a PA22-135. The CG limits copied off the STC. Have attached our Wt and Bal Excel spreadsheet. Works well and the plane flys well when inside the envelope - the trim is fairly forward though.

    No experience with 180 hp Pacer but have found Pacers that would not meet the TCDS with respect to elevator deflection.

    I’ve seen a number of Pacers and TriPacers that have both elevator and stabilizer travel not meeting the TCDS travel limits. You may want to investigate that as well as location of equipment.

    I’ve worked on two Pacer’s with inadequate up elevator’s. Didn’t meet the TCDS.

    3" forward of your 150 hp makes more sense, mine moved forward about 2.5 with the engine coversion.
    The 9.3 is still just fwd of the fwd limit and about 3" fwd of my 12.02 aft of leading edge.
    Probably some elevator rigging and CG affects causing the landing issues.

    I have full deflection of the elevator.
    Empty CG around 10 1/4" empty weight 1170. Thought about running the calculations and tying enough weight to the tail spring that would move the CG to the middle to see how that would change flares.

    Was thinking today of a system not unlike a trim system that could move a weight fore and aft to adjust empty cg. Not necessarily practical or could you ever get it approved, but it could help with landings with different loadings.

    I have some lead weights that I bolt to my tail spring on my Super Cub when competing in STOL contest. Makes a huge difference in stability and slow flight having that cg more aft.
