Painting firewall
Guys,
Since I have my engine and motor mount off I’ve decided to paint my firewall. Looking for paint and process suggestions from anybody that has done this.
Thanks!

Re: Painting firewall
I've primed them with epoxy primer and painted with a polyurethane enamel. Makes it very durable and I've never had any issues with peeling or deteriorating. Need to get the firewall very clean before applying any paint though!

Re: Painting firewall
I had an old can of Randolph Continental Grey engine paint and I used that to spray my firewall.
Looks great and, so far, very durable.

Glad to hear Tom's experience. I bet cleaning the old is the key. Have worked on several that were painted and the paint was peeling.
You could also replace the firewall with a new stainless steel unit from Clyde Smith.

Not sure where ours came from but stainless sure is purdy.

Getting paint to stick to galvanized steel is tricky.

Beautiful! That's the kind of minutiae I enjoy. Sometimes I get a little OCD on stuff. My wife and kids think I'm nuts!
