Thank you, Glen! I'll look for a number that's part of the casting. Actually, looking at my pic again, I can just see the edge of it in the extreme lower rt corner!

Seems I've contracted a good ol' runny-nose cold... at least I hope that's what it is... but I'll verify that number ASAP. Thanks again.

I think the number you are looking at is the casting number (cast into the flywheel. Another picture shows numbers stamped into the flywheel neat the timing marks. That should be the assembly number that includes the machining and the ring gear installed. The casting is likely used to make a number of different assembly numbers based on machining, engraving and ring gear.

Spent yesterday testing/running with the "new" overhauled right mag. No change. Tried a bit of weight on spinner and got some reduction in vibration level, but not enough. (We also ran it at 1700 as opposed to 2300 so we could at least get a reading, of 1.40.) Tried with spinner removed; no change. A&P's device is ACES 1015 unit.

Will be pulling engine next. I'm bummed, but I WILL find out what the issue is. Still betting none of the reciprocating parts were weighed & balanced when overhaul was done.

Schooley, how you doing with your vibration issue?

New tail brace wires ready to install. Trying to schedule a cross country to visit the mechanic I want to use and get them installed. Hoping stopping the tail from vibrating will fix the issue!

Awesome service from Dakota cub by the way. Super fast shipping, and They didn’t have one part I stock so they had univair overnight it to me. And the tail brace wires look soo nice!

Hope that fixes it! I've started removing all my nice new baffles & seals in preparation for pick-up by Aerotec Engineering in Halifax for, at the very least, an IRAN....

Why are you removing it? Have you flown it?

I just went back and reread all of Walt’s posts and I agree there is something wrong with the internals of his engine to get that much vibration. Everything I was thinking of has been tried except maybe checking runout on the crank. It will be interesting to see what he finds.
