Smile New September 2020 STC EXHAUST SYSTEM for PA-12,14,16,18,19,20,22.

Spoke with Robert Ruppert & son Logan of Ruppert Aircraft Services, Reynolds, ND about their recent STC SA04474CH (Sept 2020) exhaust system. An improved system based on the Sutton design & FAA Approved for installation on aircraft equipped with LYC O-320 & O-360 engines for the Piper PA-12,-14,-16,-18,-19,-20,-22 and limited to aircraft serial numbers that had flight time prior to January 1, 1955. PMA approval in the works but paperwork is done through them currently. About $2700. Looks like an excellent long term replacement for the original style exhaust systems. For further info contact Robert 701-847-3008 or Logan 701-213-7313. They also have a nice O-360 STC for the PA-16! Food for thought on our aging short wings.

No website. Give Logan a call as son is the one to talk to about any and all details. They have pictures of install on an O-360 PA-16 and O-320 PA-18 for perspective.
Systems are in stock and ready to ship. O-360 STC on PA-16 was done in 2016. Found out all info while research on FAA.gov.

Sutton is $2350. And works on all years on PA 22/20's.

Randy works hand in hand with Josh Svennington who has quite a few Short Wing STCs.

Will this STC remove the exhaust AD?

Wondering why it only allows pre-1955 PA22's? Also; Might anyone be aware of anyone who's mounted a Sutton exhaust on a PA22 with nosewheel?

Is that when the original exhaust system included the elbow shroud for carb heat? I know the 1951 model I used to own did not have that shroud. Accommodating the shroud would be more challenging for the designers of a retrofit exhaust.

The Sutton exhaust STC ST01920CH is only approved for installation on O-320/0-360 equipped Piper PA12 & PA18 models. Any other Piper model requires an FAA field approval.
Does not fit the Tri-Pacer models because of nose gear.
