    Default Interav installation

Getting the 0-320 on the colt, got the interav alternator that was on the 0-320 from the pacer on, made a baffle, physically all good. Called QAA and asked about a permission letter for STC SA334SW. Very nice folks, said all intellectual property was open to the public, they would not issue a permisssion letter, but I had their blessings to install on the Colt. So, will fill out a statement to that effect and submit to the FAA with the 337.

I have never seen the InterAv STC be N number specific. I would fill out the 337 and OK City. I was reviewing FAA records on an airplane recently and the previous mechanic had submitted every permission statement and AML for each STC. I have only sent then the Form 337.

I used to just send the 337. Once I became a DAR and started doing exports, I realized how poorly owners keep records. For an Export, I need to check everything, Flight manual supplements, ICAs, and a lot more. Had a couple airplanes where the owner didnít have a copy of the STC or any other documents required. It would have cost him several thousand dollars to buy the STCs over again as the STC owner wasnít cooperative. Needless to say, it squelched the deal and the sale fell through. Now I send everything in to Oklahoma City. They scan it into a pdf file and toss the paper. Megabytes are cheap for the federal government, and you are doing a service for the owner in the long run. It may cost you a couple more stamps, but I think itís good practice, though not required.

All the logs on airplanes I maintain are organized with ADs, the weight and balance and the 337s chronologically with 337, AML, ICAs etc but have seen what you are posting about.

I don't have a ICA for the Interav. Have the installation instructions, copy of STC.

you should be able to use the guidelines for the topics to be covered in an ICA to create your own.

A friend has a 1957 C-182 that had a generator when new, there is a logbook entry in 1973 and 337 with the entry and it says removed generator charging system and installed 1968 C-182 alternator charging system. Is that legal, or is he supposed to have an STC?

I got mine before the ICA was required or I would post it.

    (1.2) N4763A ICA ; B&C Alternator System.pdf

it may also be in section of the forum with the collection of field approvals,
but for what its worth, the attached is the ICA submitted when I got approval for the B&C alternator.
