    Acutally found the spring is fine. I'm missing the locking pin that prevents the seat from sliding forward (unless you depress it to remove the seat). The seat and actually slid out of the bracket mounted at the front of the rail in the middle, allowing the seat to squiggle all over, move up and down, etc. Saw it, slid it back into the groove, and the seat slide adjust pin works fine. Now I need to find the blocking pin that goes in to the hole in the pic I've attached.
