    Default PA-22 150 Propeller

What is the factory standard prop for a Tri-Pacer? Would a Sensenich M74DM with 61 inch pitch be a climb prop? What should the static max power rpm look like?

    Thanks for your help!

The 150 and 160 standard cruise prop is either a 60” or 61”. The climb prop is a 58” pitch. Static RPM limits for all M74DM props on PA-22-150 is 2250 to 2480. With a 60 or 61” pitch expect around the 2250. With a 58” pitch it will likely be in the middle of that range. I ran a 53” pitch on a PA-22-160 for years, static was 2480 or maybe a little over, but cruise was only about 105 @ 2700 RPM.

Most people make the mistake of running these engines to slow, they like to be run hard. 75% on an O-320 is about 2500 rpm at 3000’ and increases as altitude increases. Your airplane should cruise about 125 - 130 mph indicated at 75% with that prop depending on altitude. You can hold 75% power up to about 7000’ with full throttle (or slightly less so the economize isn’t open.
